2025 Great American Picnic

The Great American Picnic is a fun and easy way to enjoy music all day with friends and family and is a long-standing tradition of the festival. Attendees can rent a table provided by the festival and choose to decorate for judging or just for fun. Prizes will be issued for winners of the awards! The tables are setup in two sections on the lawn at the main stage surrounding the main stage on Saturday. Details are posted below.

2025 Great American Picnic Information

What comes with my table rental?

With your picnic table rental, you get an 8-foot table during the Picnic hours on Saturday. It comes with eight chairs for you, friends, and family to decorate or just enjoy for the day. We invite you to support the food trucks on-site. No alcohol will be allowed to enter the campus but we will have beer and alcohol available for purchase!

How do I decorate my table?

The tables come blank for you to add your decoration. Feel free to use table cloths, decorations, signs, props, or whatever you wish to make your table a stand-out! We ask that you not paint, draw, or damage the tables in any way. It is a rental and we return the tables at the end of the night. Renters will be liable for damages.

What about the weather?

Your table is for Saturday's music only - not other festival events - and is non-refundable, rain or shine.

Cancellation or postponement due to weather conditions is up to the discretion of GABBF staff.

Can I decide where my table goes?

Table setup is determined by GABBF staff, but you can include your seating preference in your order and we are usually able to honor your preference without any issue. Seating sections will be available at the back of the lawn and on the side of the lawn. Please note: some trees have been removed from the side of Centre's campus. We cannot guarantee any level of shade.

What happens after I place my order?

You will be emailed your table placement so that you can plan your picnic table experience. Parking passes are not included but we encourage you to purchase a Brass Pass for this available amenity.

New for 2025

For 2025, we will have two sections available for seating. The back of the lawn and the side of the lawn are available, the front will be left open for dancing. This change is difficult to make and we sincerely regret any inconvenience this may cause. People wanting to dance is a good thing! However, we WILL be extending the picnic hours this year. For the first time ever, picnic tables will be available beginning at 8:45am before the music begins on Saturday, May 31st. This change is to allow you to use your table for the entirety of the day on Saturday and not just the evening hours. Order your table, have a place for food all day long, decorate, and celebrate the music!

Additionally, NO DRIVERS WILL BE ALLOWED DOWN WALNUT STREET TO DROP OFF DECORATIONS. Unlike years past, Walnut street will remain closed to ALL TRAFFIC for safety of all festival goers. No cars will be allowed onto the festival grounds for any reason, including decorations.

As an alternative, decoration drop-off will be allowed at the designated locations. This information will be included with your picnic table reservation number that will be emailed to you.

Note: You may arrive on site to get your table at anytime. Tables will open early but you may arrive when it suits you. Our attendants may ask you to wait to be seated when a performance is completed as to not disturb fellow picnic goers.

PLEASE NOTE: No outside alcohol will be permitted on festival grounds. If you bring outside alcohol on the premises, we will be required to ask you to take it off the premises. We follow the city enforced alcohol policy. Per KRS 243.260, the Festival is only permitted to sell alcohol by the glass. There will be a selection of draft beer and other libations available for purchase.

2025's Table Judging Categories

Brass in the Bluegrass: Show your love of Kentucky and the festival's theme of "Brass in the Bluegrass" by celebrating everything that makes Kentucky great, and bonus points for tables that include the GABBF in their decorations!

Best in Business: Showcase your business in this category and decorate with your logos, colors, emblems, and anything that makes you great at what you do.

Best of the Wildcard: Choose your own adventure. Whatever decoration theme you go with, make it all your own! (And, please, keep it family-friendly!)

This goes without saying, but, please keep all table decorations and themes appropriate for audiences. Absolutely no politics, sensitive subjects, weapons, or violence. Any unsavory decorations will asked be removed in their entirety, and table holders may be asked to leave if not compliant.
